Sidony Cloud
Photo collage artist
Sidony Cloud is engaged in a singular artistic practice rooted in photo collage. Working from magazines, diaries, as well as art history and photography books that she cuts up, she reconstructs ensembles that most often take the form of small-format artist’s books. Her universe is as acerbic as it is joyful and, in any case, readily provocative. Her iconography delights in subverting conventions and propriety alike; her works possess the force of pamphlets and the softness of a diary. By unleashing a libidinal energy of great intensity, her work becomes an ode to the female psyche.
