Lady Tarin | Next Girl

Synopsis

Lady Tarin, Next Girl follows photographer Lady Tarin in her work exploring the female body, nudity, and intimacy. Through a series of encounters with young women, Mathilde, Alessia, Claudia, Carlotta, Celine, and others, the film observes how Tarin creates a space of trust where her models can free themselves from imposed poses, erotic stereotypes, and the traditional male gaze. Between apartment shoots, street scenes, nightclubs, cars, and more introspective moments, the documentary builds the portrait of an artist seeking a more natural, personal, and powerful representation of women. For Tarin, photographing nudity is not simply about showing a body; it is about telling an identity. The film thus becomes a reflection on the female gaze, self-acceptance, and the possibility of feeling stronger through images.

What you will find in this film

The female gaze on nudity • A photographer at work • Analogue photography and Polaroid intimacy • Women freed from imposed roles • The body as a space of self-acceptance • A powerful reflection on image, desire and identity

What happens when a woman looks at another woman? She recognizes herself.
What I do is not project a role onto them. A woman must not play a role, whether she is naked or dressed. A woman must be herself, and not perform anything else.
I try to remove all possible stereotypes. She must not embody something.
Technically, for nude photography, I shoot on film or Polaroid, because with film there is the skin, the very presence of the body… of the person.
I really like the idea of the one-of-a-kind piece, I also like the physical dimension, the fact that there is materiality, this kind of physicality. It is a body represented on a body.
The acceptance of my body happened when I understood what I wanted to do with my life.
