Synopsis
Anne Geddes' babies shaped the visual imagination of a whole generation. On walls and shelves, in the form of books, posters, cards, or calendars, her newborns dressed as bees or water lilies, asleep on a pumpkin or nestled in a hand, became an iconic cultural motif of the 1990s. Their widespread circulation earned her a mention in the TV series Friendsand an invitation to appear on The Oprah Winfrey Show. As she prepares to join the International Photography Hall of Fame, the Australian, now based in New York, welcomes us into her home and studio to discuss her career, her relationship to an aesthetic that has become globally recognizable and how she has been able to use these images to support philanthropic causes.
